Intraoral radiography is the most common type of dental imaging. Images of a single tooth and / or multiple teeth can be seen on the images (depending on the region of interest and the angle of the image). By using this method, we get an accurate image of higher diagnostic value than classic images. The advantages are up to 80% less X-ray exposure compared to standard shooting methods.
The types of intraoral radiograms that you can do in our center are periapical, occlusal and corrosive small images.
The most common indications:
- detailed assessment of the crown, roots and surrounding tooth tissues
- assessment of endodontic treatment, (filling of tooth root canals)
- assessment of tooth root formation
- assessment of tooth root morphology
- assessment of the relationship of the tooth root with the surrounding neurovascular structures
- assessment of sites for planned dental implant
The image can be printed on foil or photo paper, burned to a CD or emailed.
How is the imaging performed?
Before the shooting itself, it is recommended to remove all jewelry, glasses and mobile parts of prostheses or orthodontic appliances, because their presence can affect the quality of the pictures.
The imaging is performed in a sitting position, a collar is placed on the neck, which represents protection from X-rays, and a plate with digital film is placed intraorally in the region of the tooth to be recorded, to which the image is later transferred. The recording itself is painless and takes a few seconds. Such a close relationship between the film and the recorded tooth enables a high-resolution image with the possibility of estimating small details.
